About Richard Lara, Esq.
Richard started as a legal assistant at The Barry Law Firm and continued with the firm once he became an attorney. He’s felt drawn to the profession from a young age and was inspired to become a lawyer by working alongside attorneys in previous jobs and taking an interest in what they were doing. He loves getting to write and use language in interesting ways: whether it’s attempting to persuade the Court on some aspect of a motion or to clarify a position with opposing counsel. He just loves words and writing in general, which is why he earned his BA in English from UCLA.
When asked “What do you like most about working at TBLF?” He replied “The people, of course! From the head honcho David Barry to the welcome desk, and everyone in between, we have a great team here and all of my co-workers are a pleasure to be around. That’s something I’ve never had anywhere else.”
Prior to working at The Barry Law Firm, he worked as an investigator in financial due diligence in New York City and as a legal assistant for a boutique plaintiff’s litigation firm that specializes in elder abuse cases.
When not at work, he enjoys spending time with his wife and son, reading, rooting for the Dodgers, seeing stand-up comedy live, and travelling. Recently he spent a year and a half volunteering for the Prison Education Project (PEP), which he would highly recommend to anyone looking for volunteer opportunities of that sort.
Richard grew up in San Diego, California and earned his JD from Loyola Law School, Los Angeles.
