About Carrie Shumake

Carrie earned her Juris Doctor from The University of La Verne College of Law in May 2018, having passed the bar on her first attempt. Prior to that, she earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Legal Studies through an ABA approved program from the University of La Verne in May 2009, her Associate of Science degree in Legal Studies through an ABA approved program from Mount San Antonio College in May 2007, and her Associate of Arts degree in Liberal Arts from Mount San Antonio College in December 2007.

She has been practicing law in California since 2018, and has always practiced as a plaintiff’s attorney, as both a consumer rights attorney and a civil rights attorney.

She has practiced in several areas of law, including Song-Beverly consumer warranty law, employment litigation, and some experience in personal injury law. She has extensive experience in handling all aspects of civil litigation from start to finish, including communicating with clients on a one-on-one basis to provide support throughout all stages of litigation; extensive law and motion practice; successfully mediating cases to the satisfaction of her clients; and experience in appeal practice.

Between 2009 and 2015 she was a paralegal and from 2010 and 2015, she worked for an amazing sole practitioner in the employment law sector. She was passionate about fighting for employees who suffered discrimination and retaliation, which resulted in wrongful termination. Through her employer’s passion and resolve to protect a person’s civil rights in the employment sector, Carrie gained a deeper appreciation for the law. She was her mentor and her inspiration for becoming a lawyer.

She has been an Associate with The Barry Law Firm since January 2020, and looks forward to continuing her career with The Barry Law Firm for many years to come. She loves being a part of a firm that zealously protects clients’ consumer rights against big business that puts profits over people.

Carrie has lived in Southern California most of her life and is proud to represent her fellow Californians in their fight to protect their consumer and civil rights. She is current member of CAALA and CLA.
